The hottest news this summer: the first TrekTours hike in Poland!

There is a city located in the neighborhood of Lithuania, often unknown to most Lithuanians, yet so close to them. In the Middle Ages, Vytautas the Great loved to hunt in its forests. Later, Žygimantas Augustas met Barbora Radvilaitė for the first time here. In addition, the lakes in the city have Baltic names. The city is Augustów, which has always been close to us in the historical and geographical context. We invite you to marvel at this city: located amid 9 lakes, washed by a river, famous for its almost 200-year-old canal and the old forest.

We will say Cześć to Augustów on the 11th of June. Which challenge will you choose – 15, 27, 37, or 52 km?

15 km: the duke of the forest! Once you start the hike on the shores of the Polish-celebrated Lake Necko, you will continue to follow it along the bends of the Netta River. After taking a short stop to take a picture by the tourist’s favorite #AUGUSTÓW sign, you will „dive” into the dense forest. Vytautas the Great loved to hunt in it in the Middle Ages – perhaps he made many crucial political decisions here in this forest? Leaving the politics aside, you will also reach the largest lake in the Augustów area, Lake Saino, where you can relax on the beach in the middle of the hike.

27 km: prince of the forest! On this route, the lakes will „mix” with the forest, leaving room for each other. After you get familiar with Lake Necko, you will see Białe Augustowskie Lake, named after the white birds living in its vicinity, and Studzieniczne Lake. On the overgrown shores of the latter, it is difficult not to notice the expressive Church of Studzieniczna and the nearby chapel, famous for its magical water.

37 km: king of the forest! After you start the hike in the city, you will soon turn towards the forest. You will find yourself in a different world where there’s no room for the city noise, work, and problems. It is a kingdom of tall spruces and pines, „ruling” here for more than a hundred years. After immersing yourself in the forest meditation, you will be able to be with your thoughts and observe the changing plants and the shores of the lakes shimmering between the trees. You will be able to complete this 37 km long „meditation” on one of the longest piers in Poland, the Augustów Pier, which offers magnificent views.

52 km: the emperor of the forest! We have prepared an exceptional route for those who can’t get enough of forests, lakes, and kilometers. After walking the city center with its late classicism buildings, the old Augustów post office, from which the parcels were once transported to Kaunas by carriage, you will find yourself at the city’s celebrity – the Augustów Canal. It is a picturesque waterway passed daily by tourist-filled boats and even gondolas. Reminiscent of Venice – isn’t it? During the hike, you will also reach as many as 3 locks, built almost 200 years ago to regulate water level differences between rivers. Traveling from one to the other is a great way to train in preparation for the Coastline trek in the fall.
