Where does the river Nemunas and the spring flow through the ash woods? In the capital of Dzūkija – Alytus! A city known not only for its great forest, but also for the hospitality of its inhabitants. Here, hikers are greeted by friendly residents, mounds commemorating the rulers of the GDL, and street art decorating the city streets.

On March 25, we’ll embark on a journey of discovery on foot. Which route will you choose: 6, 15, 22, 35 or 50 km?

Inspiring paths of discovery! If you choose this route, you can easily do it with your children or grandparents. You’ll start in the streets of Alytus and admire the architecture of the city and the street art that decorates the facades of the houses. As you continue your hike, you’ll see Little Carpenter Lake and its brother, Big Carpenter Lake, as you ascend. Both are located in an area once famous for its impressive manor house, which is now only the stuff of legends.

A duo of city and nature! A route to get to know Alytus and relax in the embrace of nature. After strolling through the colorful streets of the city, make your way to the City Garden, the oldest park in the center of the city. It’s home to 55 species of trees and shrubs and four special oaks, whose names you’ll learn during your visit. When you leave the city, you’ll be „transported” to the wilderness. Here, the fragrant spruces and pines will help you expand your lungs as you sway to the song of awakening birds.

For the forest lovers! You won’t get tired of hiking as the oaks of Lithuania’s 1000th anniversary wish you strength along the way. After waving to them, you’ll continue your hike along the poetic meanders of the Nemunas River. On the way you’ll be greeted by Nemunas Island, from which you’ll reach the highest pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Lithuania. It’s not only a great resting place, but also a vantage point from which you can observe the panorama of nature coming to life.

Kilometers of love! Take your sweetheart, friend or family members by the arm and go on a journey of discovery. You won’t get bored with the breathtaking views of the forests and bridges that greet you along the way. After crossing the Nemunas River on the 15-meter-high Kaniūkai Bridge, you can see Alytus from an even higher vantage point – the almost 40-meter-high White Rose Bridge. It’s the only place in Lithuania where you can measure your love. How? By carrying a loved one to a special kind of love marker.

More than meets the eye! As you admire the breathtaking forests and woods, you won’t even notice how easily your feet lead you along the paths and trails. In addition to the spectacular forest massifs, you’ll also have the chance to pass through unique street villages and get to know the Dzūkija Arboretum, where over 700 different plants grow. The Alytus Mound that’ll unexpectedly pop up in front of your eyes will invite you to take a group photo and to make sure you come back with a bang, be sure to try out the outdoor musical instruments along the way.

Participants of all routes must arrive at the starting point of the hike on their own – S. Dariaus ir S. Girėno st. 25, Alytus, Lithuania (GPS: 54.394026, 24.049425).

REGISTRATION

After arriving to the start area, your ticket will be scanned (mobile versions accepted) and you will be handed out your starting package.

PARKING
Parking in the parking lots located in the territory of the city of Alytus. You can conveniently find them on the event map.

STARTING
After registration, you are allowed to begin the hike on the designated time for your route, which can be found in the route comparison area.

CUPS DEPOSIT
If you do not have a cup for tea, it will be possible to borrow it in the starting area, leaving a 1 euro deposit. The deposit will be returned after the hike by returning the cup.

HIKING
Rest and assistance stops will be set up all across the hike route. You will also be able to replenish your water supplies, have a cup of tea, grab a snack and if need be, receive first medical assistance.

TRANSPORTATION AFTER TERMINATING YOUR HIKE EARLY
Participants wishing to terminate their hike early will have to get to the nearest rest and assistance stop. From there, they will be brought back to the start area by designated vehicles. For participants who have not completed the hike, e-mail the diploma will be sent by e-mail specified during registration. by mail within 15 minutes after the finish is recorded in the registration system.

FINISHING
All of the hike routes are radial, thus you will start and finish and the same place – S. Dariaus ir S. Girėno st. 25, Alytus, Lithuania (GPS: 54.394026, 24.049425). Here, the participants who have successfully completed their chosen route will be awarded with medals. El. the diploma will be sent to the participant by e-mail specified during registration by mail within 15 minutes after finishing.
