Coastline Trek: a journey through all the senses

For some it’s the most important day of the year to achieve the boldest goals in life, for others, it’s the best opportunity to meet up with friends, and for others, it’s an active vacation by the sea. So it doesn’t matter what your reason for hiking is – join in.

On September 14, for the 6th time in Lithuania, we’ll continue the most awaited tradition of the year – the Coastline trek. This year we invite you to embark on a journey through all your senses on the Curonian Spit. And to make it last longer, go with a friend (or chat with a fellow hiker along the way).

Pupils, students, pedagogues, seniors, disabled people and children up to 7 years of old can choose a price type with a discount. During the collection of starter packs, all participants registered with a discount will be asked to provide a document confirming their status.

History you can touch! Smiltynė isn’t just a home for birds and sea creatures. It’s a resting place for historic ships and buildings with centuries of history. Therefore, the route not only invites you to walk by but also to stop and touch these historical monuments.

Breathe in the sea! Have you heard that the seaside has the highest concentration of iodine? It’s absorbed by walking at the seaside and breathing deeply, so relax and enjoy yourself. Every step is like a spa, as the route takes you along paths by the sea and through pine forests.

Enjoy the taste! Without calories, you have no strength, so we’re not just coming together to hike, but also to discover new flavors. Don’t let the kilometers intimidate you, because at every rest stop you’ll be greeted with drinks and snacks, and halfway through the hike you’ll fill your stomach with lunch.

Listen to the ode of the sea! Scientists say that the sounds of sea waves have a positive effect on the brain and calm people down. So listen to it at will! The joint „ensemble” of the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Spit will play the symphony live just for you.

Collect the most beautiful landscapes! More than half a hundred kilometers means you’ll cover the entirety of Smiltynė, Alksnynė, and even Juodkrantė. Just imagine how many vistas! And extraordinary! Wild dunes, the sea, the lagoon, pine forests, historic buildings, and fun roller coasters will flash before your eyes.

A journey through all the senses! We’re not saying it’ll be easy, but we promise it’ll be worth it. The hike of a lifetime will take you along Neringa’s most spectacular trails and will be a feast for all the senses. So strain your ears, open your eyes wide, breathe in the sea, touch the history, and set off to your destination with satisfaction.

Participants of all routes must arrive at the starting point of the hike on their own – Smiltynė Sports Complex, Smiltynės g. 13A, Klaipėda (after going to Smiltynė by ferry), GPS:55.7063, 21.1109Kazlų Rūda city park, Jaunimo g 7A, Kazlų Rūda (GPS:54.74514838, 23.49845264)

FERRY
On the day of the event at Senoji Perkėla, after showing your ticket, you will be able to transfer by ferry from Klaipėda to Smiltyne and back for free. Discounts will not apply to participants at Naujoji Perkėla.

REGISTRATION
After arriving to the start area, your ticket will be scanned (mobile versions accepted) and you will be handed out your starting package.

PARKING
Parking in the parking lots located in the territory of the city. You can conveniently find them on the event map.

STARTING
After registration, you are allowed to begin the hike on the designated time for your route, which can be found in the route comparison area.

DISHES DEPOSIT
If you do not have a cup for tea, bowl and a spoon for lunch, it will be possible to borrow it in the starting area, leaving a 1 euro deposit. The deposit will be returned after the hike by returning the borrowed dishes.

HIKING
Rest and assistance stops will be set up all across the hike route. You will also be able to replenish your water supplies, have a cup of tea, grab a snack and if needed, receive first medical assistance.

TRANSPORTATION AFTER TERMINATING YOUR HIKE EARLY
Participants wishing to terminate their hike early will have to get to the nearest rest and assistance stop. From there, they will be brought back to the start area by designated vehicles. For participants who have not completed the hike, e-mail the diploma will be sent by e-mail specified during registration. by mail within 15 minutes after the finish is recorded in the registration system.

FINISHING
All of the hike routes are radial, thus you will start and finish and the same place – Smiltynė Sports Complex, Smiltynės g. 13A, Klaipėda (after going to Smiltynė by ferry), GPS:55.7063, 21.1109. Here, the participants who have successfully completed their chosen route will be awarded with medals. El. the diploma will be sent to the participant by e-mail specified during registration by mail within 15 minutes after finishing.

FINISHING AFTER SENOJI PERKĖLA OPERATING HOURS
If you finish after the end of the working hours of the Senoji Perkėla, conditions will be created in the starting area to wait warmly for the morning ferry.
