Do you know where one of the cleanest rivers in Poland flows? And where in the heart of Poland can you see pine-covered sand dunes and find unique wooden houses? It’s in the Masovian Landscape Park in Otwock, just 25 km from Warsaw.
At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the town was the go-to spa for Warsaw’s ‘cream of the crop’. This is when the characteristic wooden villas, known today as ‘świdermajer’, began to pop up. And although the importance of the resort diminished after the war, Otwock’s attractions can still be enjoyed today.
This time it’s up to you to decide how much fun you’re going to have! See you on the 8, 15, 25, 50, 70, and (attention!!!) 100 km routes.

The path of spells and magic! This route is full of surprises: on the way, you’ll come across a strange little replica of a wooden castle in the middle of a forest. It’s still unknown who built it and why. Later, you will retrace the witches’ footsteps to Góry Łyse mountain, where, according to legend, witches used to gather on the Sabbath. After the hike, all we’ll have to do is ask whether you encountered anything unusual along the route.
A moment for reflection! This route takes you to one of the most interesting places in the park, the Na Torfach Nature Reserve, where the beautiful Torfy Lake is located. As you continue, you will also find the small Czarne Jeziorka peat bog, and then the Jewish cemetery hidden in the forest. Stop here for a minute and pay tribute to the patients of the Otwock Sanatorium.
A handful of history! The yellow route through the forests and peat bogs of the Na Torfach Reserve will lead you to the open-air museum of Dąbrowiecka Góra fortifications. The surrounding area, full of marshes, was once an ideal place for defense, so you’ll see the largest and best-preserved bunkers in the open air. Further on, you’ll also encounter some of nature’s finest jewels: the sand dunes and idyllic lakes that impressed us most.
Closer to nature! The half-hundred challenge will allow you to roam longer through the endless forests and the peat bogs hidden within them. As you walk, you will find yourself in the Żurawinowe Bagno Reserve, one of the less popular, but no less charming peat bogs in the park. This will be an extraordinary stop for nature lovers.
Along the river! The route will take you along the banks of one of Poland’s cleanest rivers, the Świder. Following the mouth of the tiny river, you will reach the magnificent Vistula, where you’ll be greeted by a marvelous view of huge sand dunes, abundant vegetation, and water birds. Along the way, you’ll discover a bit of Otwock’s history: you’ll climb up the Meron dune for a look around and pass by the breathtaking “swidermajer” villas.
A landscape treasure! 100 kilometers is a real challenge, so we’ve made sure it’s not boring. You’ll find a variety of scenery along the route: after passing through a former forest area, you’ll enter rolling meadows. Later, you’ll reach the Żółwi Pond area, where we’ll challenge you to find the turtle sculptures. And finally, at the islands of Świderskie and Zawadowskie, you’ll be one with nature and thank yourself for this daunting but very meaningful challenge!
