We’re going back to the seaside, where it all began! It will be a true hiking festival for beginners and experienced hikers alike. And where better than Liepaja – the city where, according to the Latvians, the wind was born!
On 20 September, the now-traditional Coastline Trek invites you to celebrate 10 years of adventure, friendship and unforgettable moments together with TrekTours! We will meet in Liepaja, which is celebrating its 400th birthday this year. And birthdays should be celebrated loudly, widely and unforgettably.
What awaits us? The sea, the sand, the wide beaches and great company. The waves of Liepaja will lap at your feet and the wind will whisper to you – TrekTours has been here for 10 years! Memories, stories and kilometres covered. And this hike is another page we will write together.
Routes 8, 16, 25, 46, 81 and 102 kilometres are waiting for all those who want to feel the sand under their feet again after the summer or try a hike by the sea. Enjoy the charm of Liepāja’s coastline! The trail will take you along the sea, where you’ll not only admire the waves but also see wind-sculpted sand dunes – true masterpieces of nature. Along the way, you’ll pass the impressive Jūrmalas Park – one of the largest green wonders in the Baltic region. And did you know that visiting Liepāja without a photo by the famous sea sign is simply unthinkable? Make sure to check that off your list! The way back will be pure pleasure: a forest walk that will refresh your legs after the “massage” from the sand.
Set off on an adventure-filled hike! Starting your journey from the spacious Liepāja beach, you’ll be greeted by the sound of crashing waves and the legendary Liepāja wind. With your hair blowing in the breeze, you’ll take in the beauty of the Baltic Sea coastline: elegant dune pines, white sandy shores, and an endless horizon that captures the heart of every nature lover. After walking about 8 km along the sea, the trail will turn inland and guide you back. Keep your eyes open, and you will spot the Grīnvaltu Tower – a historical military relic that whispers stories of the past. This route blends the beauty of nature with the secrets of history – don’t forget to savor every moment!
To Pērkone and back! This route takes you away from the city buzz and into the peaceful embrace of nature. The trail leads to Pērkone Beach, where the sea feels even closer, and the surroundings are beautifully wild. This part of the coastline is known for its quiet and untouched nature, making it perfect for those looking to escape the rush of everyday life. When you reach Pērkone, take a moment to pause, breathe in the fresh sea air, and enjoy the tranquility before heading back. This route is an excellent choice for anyone wanting to discover the beauty and diversity of Liepāja’s coastline!
“This must be a resort!” – said Latvia’s first president, Jānis Čakste, and his words still echo through the Bernāti pine forests. But the best way to believe it is to experience this impressive and challenging route for yourself! With just a few steps, you’ll feel the city’s energy fade as the closeness of the sea and the peace of nature take over. This trail offers an authentic experience – an uninterrupted connection to nature and the sound of the waves. Don’t miss the unique Bernāti Observation Tower – climb to the top and enjoy breathtaking views of the sea from above!
Time to head to Jūrmalciems – a seaside village rich in history, tradition, and natural beauty. Upon arrival in Jūrmalciems, you’ll be greeted by traditional fishing boats, sandy paths, and welcoming locals who live in harmony with the rhythm of the sea. Every detail in the village speaks of its heritage, from weathered wooden houses shaped by the wind to the warm, friendly greetings of the residents. Pause to take in the fresh, salty air, and if you’re lucky, you might hear a local recount an old story about life by the waves or the adventures of fishermen. This hike is more than just a scenic route – it’s a step back in time, a chance to experience the balance of nature and culture, and a moment to deepen your appreciation for the coast. You’ll leave Jūrmalciems not only with unforgettable memories but also with a renewed sense of connection to the seaside’s history and spirit.
The ultimate coastal adventure for true hiking enthusiasts! If you’re reading this and considering this route – congratulations, you’re a true experienced hiker! Starting your journey along the winding trails of Liepāja’s coastline, you’ll be accompanied by the soothing sound of the sea and the wind all the way to Pape Nature Park – a haven of wildlife and natural beauty. Pape Nature Park is famous for its unique ecosystem, where countless species of plants and animals thrive in harmony. It’s an internationally renowned paradise for birdwatchers, as hundreds of thousands of birds stop here during their migration every year. A true dream for nature lovers and bird enthusiasts! The path is long, but every step is well worth it – not only for the stunning views but also for the unforgettable discoveries of nature along the way. Get ready for an adventure that will leave a lasting impression!
ARRIVAL LOCATION
Participants of all routes must arrive at the starting point of the hike on their own – Zvejnieku aleja 11A, Liepāja, LV-3401, Latvia (GPS: 56.509274, 20.992753).
PARKING
Parking in the parking lots located in the territory of the city.
REGISTRATION
After arriving to the start area, your ticket will be scanned (mobile versions accepted) and you will be handed out your participants bracelet.
STARTING
After registration, you are allowed to begin the hike on the designated time for your route, which can be found in the route comparison area.
DISH RENTAL
If you don’t have a bowl for food, a cup, or a spoon for lunch, you can rent these at the starting area for €1. You can return the dishes for reuse after finishing. The rental fee is non-refundable.
HIKING
Rest and assistance stops will be set up all across the hike route. You will also be able to replenish your water supplies, have a cup of tea, grab a snack and if need be, receive first medical assistance. Route distances may vary due to differences in GPS receivers and smart device tracking.
TRANSPORTATION AFTER TERMINATING YOUR HIKE EARLY
Participants wishing to terminate their hike early will have to get to the nearest rest and assistance stop. From there, they will be brought back to the start area by designated vehicles. For participants who have not completed the hike, e-mail the diploma will be sent by e-mail specified during registration by mail within 15 minutes after the finish is recorded in the registration system.
FINISHING
All of the hike routes are radial, thus you will start and finish and the same place – Zvejnieku aleja 11A, Liepāja, LV-3401, Latvia (GPS: 56.509274, 20.992753). Here, the participants who have successfully completed their chosen route will be awarded with medals. The e-diploma will be sent to the participant by e-mail specified during registration by mail within 15 minutes after finishing.

When we’re out in nature, it’s important to protect it. To cut down on plastic waste during our hikes, we’ve stopped using disposable dishes.
If you also believe in taking care of the environment, we encourage you to bring your own reusable items on the hike: a water bottle, a mug or thermos for tea, and a bowl and spoon for those on longer routes.
