New otherworldly routes at the Quarry Hike

Looking for something unreal, cosmic, and unexpected? Join us for a hike through the quarries of Naujoji Akmenė. Step into a mystical world among towering walking excavators, also known as Moonwalkers, and landscapes reminiscent of the Grand Canyon.

This is a unique place, unseen even by the most seasoned quarry enthusiasts. After this hike, you will be genuinely surprised, having discovered a side of Lithuania that few have ever found. Sometimes, you do not need to look far to find something new.

We have carefully designed the routes so that even the most experienced hikers will be impressed. Choose from 9, 16 with “Aconitum”, 25, 37, or 50 km routes, and we promise you will return from these canyons a different person from when you arrived.

Please note that on the day of the hike, route distances may be slightly adjusted due to ongoing quarry operations.

The number of tickets for the event is limited. Prices will increase on the event day, current prices are listed below.

ROUTE INFORMATION

This route is ideal for families and those new to hiking. For the first time, the hike will begin right next to the quarries, so from the very first steps, you will experience the mystical beauty of the Karpėnai limestone quarries and trails reminiscent of fairy-tale Troll paths. Bring your four-legged friends too – this will be a fun and exciting new experience for them!

By choosing this route, you will immerse yourself in the scenery of the Karpėnai limestone quarries, pass impressive cliffs, walk along the bottom of the Menčiai quarry, see the unique walking excavator, and explore most of the quarry area. You will also enter the town of Naujoji Akmenė, making this a well-rounded and truly mystical adventure!

THE PROCESS OF THE EVENT

When registering, all participants agree with hike regulations.

ARRIVAL LOCATION

Participants of all routes must arrive at the starting point of the hike on their own.

PARKING

Parking in the parking lots located in the territory of the city.

REGISTRATION

After arriving to the start area, your ticket will be scanned (mobile versions accepted) and you will be handed out your participants bracelet.

STARTING

After registration, you are allowed to begin the hike on the designated time for your route, which can be found in the route comparison area.

DISH RENTAL

If you don’t have a bowl for food, a cup, or a spoon for lunch, you can rent these at the starting area for €1. You can return the dishes for reuse after finishing. The rental fee is non-refundable.

HIKING

Rest and assistance stops will be set up all across the hike route. You will also be able to replenish your water supplies, have a cup of tea, grab a snack and if need be, receive first medical assistance. Route distances may vary due to differences in GPS receivers and smart device tracking.

TRANSPORTATION AFTER TERMINATING YOUR HIKE EARLY

Participants wishing to terminate their hike early will have to get to the nearest rest and assistance stop. From there, they will be brought back to the start area by designated vehicles. For participants who have not completed the hike, e-mail the diploma will be sent by e-mail specified during registration by mail within 15 minutes after the finish is recorded in the registration system.

FINISHING

All of the hike routes are radial, thus you will start and finish and the same place. Here, the participants who have successfully completed their chosen route will be awarded with medals. The e-diploma will be sent to the participant by e-mail specified during registration by mail within 15 minutes after finishing.
