Spring begins the moment you step into Ķemeri!

When spring is just beginning to awaken, Ķemeri is the perfect place to stretch your legs and clear your mind. Just half an hour from Riga, you will arrive in a historic resort town where, as early as the 19th century, people came to restore their health with mineral springs and therapeutic mud. The old park, with its bridges, pavilions, and oak-lined avenues, offers a unique charm that comes alive only when you discover it on foot.

From the heart of Ķemeri, routes lead into the national park – bogs, lakes, forests, silence, and the famous Great Ķemeri Bog Boardwalk. It is a place where the air smells different, and every step brings you a little closer to spring. The longer routes even take you all the way to the sea, where the fresh wind and wide open coastline let you feel the season from a whole new perspective.

In the TrekTours Ķemeri’26 hike, we offer four distances – 9, 15, 27 and 37 km – so everyone can choose the pace that suits them best. All you need to do is arrive, lace up your comfortable shoes and let the trail lead the way – we will take care of the rest.

ROUTE INFORMATION

Brief but scenic. On this route, you’ll have the chance to enjoy two bird’s-eye views and walk along unique lakeside trails.

Kemeri Water Tower: A 42-meter-high structure (the tallest in Kemeri), part of Latvia’s industrial heritage and a national monument, designed by architect Fridrich Skujiņš in 1929.
Sloka Lake Observation Tower: Located on pontoons and connected to land by a bridge, offering panoramic views of the entire lake.
Black Alder Swamp Trail: A path through the largely untouched Vēršupīte forest, with minimal human impact.
Sloka Lake Trail: A route along a lake rich with waterfowl, winding through various forests.

A longer walk. This route offers several sights that let you truly feel the spirit of the resort town.

Kemeri Water Tower: A 42-meter-tall structure (the tallest in Kemeri), part of Latvia’s industrial heritage and a national monument, built in 1929 by architect Fridrich Skujiņš.
Love Island: A romantic islet with a classical-style rotunda where music once played and resort guests enjoyed peaceful coffee breaks.

Lapmežciems Regional Museum: Its mission is to preserve the cultural and historical values of the region, with a strong focus on the history of fishing and everyday life up to the present day.
You will have the opportunity to climb a birdwatching tower.
Kanieris Reed Trail (self-guided visit from the southern rest stop): Created in the summer of 2013, this unique partly pontoon trail runs through dense reed beds.
Green Dune: One of the most interesting natural objects in Kemeri National Park, known for its unique ecological system and landscape.

 
 

See it all! Soon after leaving the town, you’ll enter a true resort of forests, lakes, and Riga Bay.

Melnezers Lake: A peat-covered, legendary lake said to hide much looted treasure buried after World War II.
Starpiņupīte Lock (dam): A hydraulic structure serving local functions like water level regulation and land drainage.
Lighthouse in Ragaciems: A striking red tower overlooking pine forests, built in 1960. Nearby on the bay shore stands an older small tower from 1939.
Along the way, you’ll find two birdwatching towers.

THE PROCESS OF THE EVENT

When registering, all participants agree with hike regulations.


Participants of all routes must arrive at the starting point of the hike on their own.

Parking in the parking lots located in the territory of the city.

After arriving to the start area, your ticket will be scanned (mobile versions accepted) and you will be handed out your participants bracelet.

After registration, you are allowed to begin the hike on the designated time for your route, which can be found in the route comparison area.

If you don’t have a bowl for food, a cup, or a spoon for lunch, you can rent these at the starting area for €1. You can return the dishes for reuse after finishing. The rental fee is non-refundable.

Rest and assistance stops will be set up all across the hike route. You will also be able to replenish your water supplies, have a cup of tea, grab a snack and if need be, receive first medical assistance. Route distances may vary due to differences in GPS receivers and smart device tracking.

Participants wishing to terminate their hike early will have to get to the nearest rest and assistance stop. From there, they will be brought back to the start area by designated vehicles. For participants who have not completed the hike, e-mail the diploma will be sent by e-mail specified during registration by mail within 15 minutes after the finish is recorded in the registration system.

All of the hike routes are radial, thus you will start and finish and the same place. Here, the participants who have successfully completed their chosen route will be awarded with medals. The e-diploma will be sent to the participant by e-mail specified during registration by mail within 15 minutes after finishing.
